Ford Business Solutions (FBS), the global technology and business services arm of Ford Motor Company, is strengthening its footprint in India with the launch of a new office in Bengaluru. This expansion complements its well-established Global Capability Center (GCC) in Chennai, which already boasts a robust workforce of approximately 12,000 employees. Over the next four years, beginning in 2025, FBS plans to onboard an additional 2,000 professionals, reinforcing India’s pivotal role in Ford’s global operations.
Ford’s Growing Presence in India
India has been a key hub for Ford for over 25 years, initially focusing on accounting services before expanding into a wide array of business and technology functions. Today, FBS India provides global support across multiple domains, including product development, supply chain, manufacturing engineering, finance, HR, and marketing.
Mike Amend, Chief Enterprise Technology Officer at Ford, highlighted the company’s strategic vision for its India operations. “Ford has been in India for more than two decades, and its contribution to our global technology and business initiatives continues to grow. Our teams here are at the forefront of enterprise technology, playing a crucial role in supporting our operations across North America, Europe, and other key markets.”
Why Bengaluru? A Hub for High-Tech Talent
The newly established Bengaluru office serves as an extension of the Chennai GCC and has a seating capacity for approximately 350 employees. Currently, around 75 professionals are working from this location, with plans for further expansion in the coming months.
“The primary goal of opening this office is to tap into specialized and high-demand skills,” Amend explained. “We are particularly focused on strengthening our capabilities in cybersecurity, DevSecOps, DevOps, and AI, all of which are critical to Ford’s digital transformation strategy.”
While Chennai remains the operational stronghold for FBS in India, Bengaluru was chosen for its deep talent pool in emerging digital technologies. “Chennai continues to be our backbone, but Bengaluru offers access to niche expertise in advanced tech domains. This expansion enables us to attract top-tier talent that may not be as widely available in Chennai,” Amend added.
Ford’s Commitment to Growth and Digital Transformation
Ford Business Solutions has been steadily ramping up its workforce in India. Last year, the company onboarded approximately 1,050 employees in Chennai, primarily focusing on enterprise technology. Currently, around 40% of FBS India’s workforce is engaged in technology-related roles, while another 30% contributes to product development and engineering, including manufacturing engineering.
With half of Ford’s global enterprise tech team operating from Chennai, India remains a critical pillar in Ford’s journey towards digital innovation and transformation. The company’s growing investments in technology hubs like Bengaluru signal its commitment to staying at the forefront of the automotive and enterprise technology sectors.
